Beastie Boys - Adam "MCA" Yauch 8/05/1965 - 05/04/2012

Adam Yauch also known as MCA who was apart of or known as one third of the MEGA rap/hip hop/rock group the Beastie Boys (along with Mike D & Ad-Roc) has passed away at the age of 47 of cancer.

He began his career along with friends Mike D and Ad-Roc to become The Beastie boys. The group started when MCA was about 22 years old and released their first album Licensed to Ill on Def Jam Records which sold 720,000 copies in six weeks, becoming one of Columbia's fastest-selling debuts ever not to mention coming from a white hip hop group which was pretty much unheard of.

Beastie Boys were the first BIG white rap group alongside big rap acts such as LL Cool J, and Run D.M.C. even before the white rap group 3rd Bass. The Beastie Boys remained popular. The 3 guys from New York who became mainstream in the early 80's.
The initial lineup consisted of singer Mike D (Michael Diamond, Nov. 20, 1966, New York, NY), bassist MCA (Adam Yauch, Aug. 5, 1965, New York), drummer Kate Schellenbach (Jan. 5, 1966, New York) — who later formed Luscious Jackson — and guitarist John Berry. Inspired by the DC hardcore band Bad Brains' mix of whiplash punk and lilting reggae, the Beasties released an independent EP, Polly Wog Stew, in 1982, after which Berry departed. From the hardcore band the Young and the Useless, the Beasties added fourteen-year-old guitarist Adam Horovitz (Oct. 31, 1967, New York), the son of playwright Israel Horovitz, who became known as Ad-Rock.

It took me a minute for me to get used to there music but when I got used to it (which wasn't long) that was it ...I was sold !!!!

Prayers go out to the family of Adam Yauch aka MCA and the entire Beastie Boys crew.

Rest In Peace MCA (Adam Yauch) 8/05/1965 - 05/04/2012
