THROWBACK : CECE PENISTON "FINALLY"

In January of 1991 record producer Felipe "DJ Wax Dawg" DelGado, who was also based in Phoenix, asked Peniston (born Cecelia Peniston) to sing background vocals on rapper Overweight Pooch's Female Preacher album for A&M Records. When Manny Lehman, A&M's director of artists and repertoire, heard Peniston sing, he wanted to meet with her immediately. A&M then commissioned DelGado to produce a track featuring Peniston as a solo artist.With that voice she needed to be a solo artist...no background needed...lol.
Peniston was 21 years old when she and DelGado produced her first single, "Finally," which became an instant dance club hit in the United States. By the fall of 1991 "Finally" began its rise on the U.S. pop and R&B charts and had become a Top Five single in Great Britain. With her song climbing the charts, Peniston headed into the studio to record a full album. Finally would eventually reach the Top Five of the pop, R&B, and dance album charts and earn gold certification.

She "Finally" hit with this single which lead to other hits but not many that followed in this songs footsteps.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT / THROWBACK: TEEDRA MOSES "BE YOUR GIRL"

Teedra Moses’ voice seems to glide across any sound of r&b music. She is beautiful, talented and she stands alone when it comes to the cream rising to the top.I was hooked about a few summers ago with this particular song.She doesn’t have to worry about me rollin out on her she could most def be my girl (lol…I’m laughin but I’m serious…lol) .The single “BE YOUR GIRL” attained more of a following. Thru this song and with many others Ms.Moses expresses her feelings with ease with her “emotional vulnerability, describing a crush from afar on "Be Your Girl," while alternatively tackling the other side of the game on her mid-tempo lamentation "You'll Never Find (A Better Woman)"—where she's in love with a man more concerned with finance than romance. "I wrote it in a way for women in the projects to get it, as far as it comes off like this guy might be a drug dealer," says Teedra. "I wrote it that way purposely just to catch that audience, 'cause that's what that song was supposed to be, a really street song. It's dealing with an experience I had with a man who was really concerned with getting his money right. I didn't need the money, I didn't need any of those things. I just needed [him]."

Watch out for Teedra Moses cuz it seems she maybe riding in a new MAYBACH…(HINT HINT…lol).Check out the single that made me sit up and take notice……. “BE YOUR GIRL”.

THROWBACK : SADE "THE SWEETEST TABOO"

"The Sweetest Taboo" is the lead single from the English group Sade's second studio album, Promise (1985). The song peaked at # 31 on the UK Singles Chart, it fared considerably better in the U.S., where it reached number five on the Billboard Hot 100 in March 1986, remaining in the top forty for thirteen weeks. It also became the band's second consecutive #1 hit on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart, following "Smooth Operator". She will be going on tour beginning in June 2011 and I’m sure that fans will sell out her shows where ever she goes. One thing for sure the cd’s fly off the shelves as soon as the cd is released. I have been a fan for a while .Sade gains new with each single and cd released.

Soldier of Love is only the 6th studio album the band Sade have released during their 25 year career, and the first since Lovers Rock in 2000. For Sade herself, as the lynchpin of the group's songwriting effort, it's a simple matter of integrity and authenticity. "I only make records when I feel I have something to say. I'm not interested in releasing music just for the sake of selling something. Sade is not a brand."

This band was formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1989.No one knew that this group would command a strong following (namely the TWINZ...lol) but Mint Condition started out performing in local clubs before attracting the attention of producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis of Perspective Records, a subsidiary of A&M Records.

This group had and still has the ability to blow a stage apart and having fans wanting more of there music.If you haven't seen them perform live you are missing something SPECTACULAR!
